Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik on Thursday informed the National Assembly in a written reply that 40 new oil and gas reserves have been discovered during the tenure of the current coalition government.
Of these, 18 reserves have already been made operational, marking a key development in the country’s energy exploration efforts.
According to the written response, the operational reserves contributed significant output by December 2025. Natural gas production from the newly developed fields reached 61 million cubic feet per day, strengthening domestic energy supply. In addition, daily oil production from these reserves stood at 1,553 barrels.
The minister further stated that 22 newly discovered reserves are currently at the processing stage. Once brought online, these fields are expected to further enhance national energy production capacity and reduce pressure on imports.
