PPL successfully carries out workover of operated Adhi South-2 with a production gain of ~ 850 bpd oil

PPL is pleased to announce a successful workover for sidetracking of Adhi South-2 at its Adhi Field in Punjab, resulting in a production gain of approximately 850 bpd oil and 1 MMscfd gas.

Drilled as an appraisal well in 2020, Adhi South-2 was initially tested at 800 bpd oil. Over the years, the well’s production declined to 200 bpd oil and a hydraulic frack was performed in 2023-24 to address the issue.

However, the well ceased to flow due to high water cut and despite many rig-less interventions, including gas-lift (CTGL), the production could not be revived.

Recently, Adhi South-2 was successfully sidetracked to bypass the water-bearing zone in only 28 days against the planned 48 days with post rig-release testing at 850 bpd oil and 1 MMscfd gas. Adhi is a joint venture between PPL as operator and OGDCL and POL, as partners.

This milestone is set to boost the current production levels as well as strengthen confidence to apply similar remediation approaches to other underperforming wells across the field.
