Geo-tagging to ensure tree monitoring and accurate reporting; mobile app developed in collaboration with the Information Technology Board.

Lahore (Sheikh Zain-ul-Abideen) – To make Lahore’s environment clean, green, and healthy, the Punjab government has launched a major tree plantation project. This project, aimed at increasing Lahore’s tree cover, will involve planting 15 million trees.

Geo-tagging has also been decided to ensure proper monitoring and accurate reporting of the trees. According to details, the Punjab government has introduced the Green Master Plan for Lahore, under which 15 million trees and plants will be planted across the city.

Under the direction of DG PHA Mansoor Ahmed Raja, the “Lungs of Lahore” project has been expanded and formally included in the Green Master Plan. According to officials, 10 million saplings will be grown in PHA nurseries, while 5 million saplings will be cultivated by PHA’s horticulture directors.

Under the plan, trees will be planted in urban forests, green belts, parks, and along highways. Geo-tagging has been decided to ensure proper monitoring and accurate reporting of the trees. For this purpose, a mobile app has been developed in collaboration with the Punjab Information Technology Board, through which data for each tree will be recorded.

The purpose of this project by the Punjab government is to provide a better environmental atmosphere for the citizens of Lahore. While implementation of the Green Master Plan has begun, its long-term impact will not be possible without the active cooperation, support, and monitoring by the public.
