SUPARCO and NTC Join Hands to Bring Satellite Internet to Pakistan’s Remote Regions

Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) and the National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in satellite-based telecommunication and information technology services.

The partnership supports the national vision of “Satellite-Powered Digital Pakistan” by bringing together the technical expertise and operational capabilities of both institutions. The goal is to expand satellite-enabled communication and digital services, particularly in remote and underserved regions.

Under the agreement, NTC will gain access to Geo Communication Satellites to ensure reliable nationwide connectivity. SUPARCO, in turn, will use NTC’s terrestrial network to deliver satellite communication services, satellite imagery, geospatial applications, cloud solutions, and secure digital platforms more efficiently. The collaboration is also expected to improve mission-critical communication, digital security, and data accessibility across the country.

The partnership marks an important step in developing homegrown strengths in telecommunication and space technologies, making advanced digital and satellite services more reliable and accessible for Pakistan.

The signing ceremony took place at the NTC Headquarters in Islamabad and was attended by Chairman SUPARCO Mohammad Yousuf Khan, Managing Director NTC Major General Ali Farhan, and senior officials from both organizations.
