Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has announced a significant gas and condensate discovery at its Bitrism East-1 well, located in District Khairpur, Sindh.
OGDCL, which operates the Bitrism Exploration License with a 95% working interest, made the find in partnership with Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL), which holds the remaining 5%.
The Bitrism East-1 well was spudded on June 30, 2025, and drilled to a depth of 3,800 meters, targeting the Sembar Formation. The drilling operation was carried out using OGDCL’s in-house expertise, in close collaboration with its joint venture partner.
According to OGDCL, two Drill Stem Tests (DSTs) were performed in the Lower Goru Formation—specifically in the Massive and Basal Sands. Both tests yielded promising results, with the well producing a combined potential of 22.5 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas and 690 barrels of condensate per day (BCD) at a 32/64” choke.
This latest discovery further strengthens OGDCL’s position in the Bitrism Exploration License and adds to the company’s and the country’s hydrocarbon reserves. The company says the new find will help reduce the gap between energy supply and demand by tapping into indigenous resources.
