Inflow rises 7% year-on-year, but slips 2% from July, SBP data shows.
Overseas workers sent $3.1 billion in remittances to Pakistan in August 2025, according to State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) figures released on Friday.
Saudi Arabia remained the largest source, contributing $737 million. While inflows from the Kingdom fell 11% compared to July, they were 3% higher than the $713 million recorded in August last year.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) followed with $643 million, reflecting a 19% year-on-year increase from $538 million in August 2024. From the United Kingdom, remittances stood at $463 million — up 3% over July’s $450 million but down 2% compared to the same month last year.
Inflows from the United States reached $267 million, showing a steep 17% YoY decline.
Overall, remittances rose 7% compared to $2.9 billion in August 2024, but declined 2% from July’s $3.2 billion.
The SBP noted that remittances play a crucial role in supporting Pakistan’s external account, boosting household incomes, and driving domestic economic activity.
