Lahore (Gwadar Pro): A 4.2-kilometer-long road connecting Lahore and Kasur has been completed for the establishment of a textile park under the management of a Chinese textile company. This road links the building of “Challenge Fashion (Private) Limited”, located on Lahore’s border, to the site in Kasur where a Chinese company from Shanghai has acquired 100 acres of land and finalized preparations to set up a Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
A senior official from Challenge Fashion told Gwadar Pro that the textile park will be constructed within the next 12 months, which is expected to generate $50 million annually in foreign exchange for Pakistan and create over 30,000 jobs.
The company plans to invest $15 million over the next 3 to 5 years, with an additional $10 million expected from allied industries associated with the project. The official highlighted that the availability of high-quality fabrics remains a major challenge, as over 80% of raw materials are currently imported, disrupting production.
He further stated that the company aims to establish South Asia’s most advanced and sustainable textile hub, reflecting Chinese design and construction standards. The park will introduce an eco-friendly and automated production system, promoting modern management and production science.
“This project will promote a highly efficient, eco-friendly, and automated textile and garment manufacturing system while advancing modern production management principles,” he said. “Establishing such a supply chain cluster will help improve Pakistan’s labor structure and management systems.”
“We want to set up an industrial park in Pakistan operating under Chinese principles to introduce local institutions to the standards of China’s industrial parks,” he added.
The official expressed hope that Chinese companies interested in overseas investment would recognize Pakistan’s potential and that small and medium enterprises (SMEs) could benefit from the project by leveraging the government’s incentivized investment policies.
