LHC launches system to integrate judiciary, police records

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Aalia Neelum on Thursday inaugurated the pilot project of integrated crimi-nal justice system (ICJS) for the districts of Lahore and Rahim Yar Khan.

The system developed under the guidance of the chief justice her-self, aims at revolutionising the criminal justice system in Punjab by integrating the records of the judiciary, prosecution, police and prisons, making them accessible on just one click, said a statement.

Speaking at the inaugural cere-mony, Chief Justice Neelum con-gratulated all members of the pro-vincial justice committee and stake-holders on the achievement. She termed the ICJS a revolutionary step towards transforming the crim-inal justice system in Punjab and a collaborated effort of all the stake holders. She said the system would improve efficiency, transparency and accountability, ultimately ensuring justice for all citizens.
Ms Neelum noted that the ICJS featured a centralised database where all records, from FIRs to case decisions and prisoner records, would be available on a single plat-form. This would help identify the cases with challans not being sub-mitted on time, investigations being inadequate as well as delay tactics in the cases.

The chief justice said the system would bring transparency to the entire process, ensuring accountability among stakeholders.
