The bilateral bus service between Pakistan and China has been resumed.

On March 6, 2025, the official resumption of the international bus service between Kashgar (China) and Gilgit (Pakistan) took place, entering the trial operation phase.

The service is operated by Kashgar Xinlu Passenger Transport Company Limited and Pakistan’s Northern Areas Transport Corporation (NATCO). The bus departs from Kashgar and heads south, passing through the Khunjerab Pass and Pakistan’s Sust Port, ultimately reaching Gilgit. The total travel distance is 698 kilometers.

This restored bus service not only reduces the travel distance between the two regions but also serves as an important link for enhancing trade, cultural exchanges, and tourism development between China and Pakistan.

According to Kashgar Passenger Station, the bus departs from Kashgar every Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 3 PM (Beijing time). Before exiting China through the Khunjerab Pass, the bus will stop at the Tashkorgan County Passenger Station the next day.

For the return trip, buses will depart from Gilgit every Monday, Tuesday, and Friday at 6 AM (Pakistan Standard Time). They will also stop at Tashkorgan County before heading back to Kashgar.

The fare per passenger is 455 Yuan per ticket. Currently, ten buses operate on this route, each with a capacity of 25 to 48 seats. Passengers can either purchase tickets directly at Kashgar Passenger Station or make online bookings via the WeChat mini-program “Kashgar Passenger Travel.”
