A similar decision is expected from the European Union. Renowned traders have delved into history to prove that basmati rice originated in Pakistan’s Hafizabad district.
India’s attempts to harm Pakistan’s interests in the basmati rice market have failed, with Australia and New Zealand rejecting India’s claims. The European Union is also expected to rule in Pakistan’s favor soon.
Pakistani trader Shams-ul-Islam has proven through historical records that basmati rice is a product of Pakistan’s Hafizabad district.
Pakistan’s markets offer high-quality, fragrant, and affordable basmati rice, with exports reaching $4 billion. India had attempted to capture Pakistan’s market share, eyeing the global basmati market worth $27 billion.
However, exporters like Chaudhry Tanvir claim that India does not even produce basmati rice, and instead, rebrands Pakistani basmati rice exported to Dubai as its own.
